Chapel Camerata
What does it do?
· Sings intermediate and advanced repertoire each Sunday morning at the ecumenical Chapel service. The Sunday morning commitment is from 9:45 to 12:15. A light breakfast is available in the choir room.
· Sings at all concerts and major events
o Opening Exercises and Baccalaureate
o Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols
o Alumni Service of Remembrance
o Holy Week (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday)
o Easter
o Full concert each semester
· May sing an occasional run-out concert at a church or other community venue
Who is it for?
· Singers who can serve as the core group of vocal leaders within Chapel Choir
· Singers with significant choral experience (generally, 2+ years) or a strong instrumental background
· People who can commit to a weekly Sunday morning service
· People who enjoy singing in a smaller choir (approximately 28 to 40 singers)
What are rehearsals like?
· Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:45 to 6:30
· The first 15 minutes will include warm-ups and musicianship training (sight-reading, music theory).
· The next 45 minutes will focus on repertoire for the concert and other big musical events such as Easter.
· The next 45 minutes will focus on repertoire for Sunday mornings (three pieces each Sunday).
What skills are required?
· Pleasant voice with excellent intonation and strong potential to blend with others
· Ability to sight-read at a high level, or intermediate ability with significant instrumental experience
· Capability of practicing/reviewing music on your own (without practice tracks) outside of rehearsal
· A call-back audition may be required.
What are the other requirements?
· Commit to attending all rehearsals, services, and concerts. 3 missed rehearsals and 2 missed Sundays permitted per full semester, with rare exceptions.
· Commit to notifying the director in advance of any absence.
· Reaudition every fall semester.
· Sign a calendar contract at the beginning of each semester.
